On June 12, 2025 the New  York Times published an article that spotlighted the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture—part of the NYPL—on the occasion of its centennial. It traces its origins to 1925, beginning as the Division of Negro Literature, History, and Prints at the 135th Street branch, bolstered by Arturo Schomburg’s foundational personal collection. The piece highlights major centennial initiatives at the Center, including the exhibition 100: A Century of Collections, Community, and Creativity, special library cards, book giveaways, festivals, lectures, dinners, and ongoing programming celebrating Black history and culture.

ETHOH / Reverend Nafisa Sharriff’s involvement
ETHOH (Entering the Holy of Holies) and its founder, Reverend Nafisa Sharriff, are noted in context of centennial events connected to the Schomburg Center. As the organizer of ETHOH—a non‑profit interfaith spiritual and educational initiative offering meditation, healing, and interfaith services—Rev. Sharriff was invited to lead a meditation or spiritual healing segment at one of the centennial celebration programs. This role aligned with ETHOH’s mission to foster inner healing and spiritual community.
